Something that I have loved about the flower field lately is how grounding it is. While much of the world is either paused or in chaos, the flowers bloom even still. They provide respite from the confusion and pain and offer beauty that we crave. It’s hard work, don’t get me wrong— but hard work is good and grounding.

Our flower field is in full bloom and it’s not stopping anytime soon. I’m not tired of the zinnias yet but ask me again come September. As for the dahlias— well I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them. Summer flowers in Texas are vibrant, tough and fast growing. It’s not a huge amount of space, but we’ve got it packed full. Here’s what we currently have in the ground blooming right now!

We grow flowers on a plot on another family’s property in Driftwood called Fry Family Farms. They are so kind and supportive and it’s been such a blessing. It’s about 40+ minutes from where we live which isn’t the most convenient, but it’s been working really great. I’ve been dreaming about what it would be like to have a property where we can walk out of our house and the flowers are right there. Hopefully one day!

Each week Grant seeds another round and we transplant more into the ground. We’re harvesting multiple times a week for our customers which include a local wholesaler (Austin Flower Co.), a csa-delivery company (Farmhouse Delivery) and individual bouquet sales.

We’re starting to get into a rhythm and learning a whole lot along the way. Thankfully, the flower sales have covered the lack of weddings currently and for that we are so thankful for the Lord's provision through it all.

When we have too many flowers to sell or a bucket passes their prime before we sell them, we bunch them up and set it outside our house with a “free flowers” sign for the neighbors. I post on the Nextdoor App and they’re gone, it makes me so happy. Speaking of apps, we started making TikToks (LOL who are we??) and it’s honestly been so much fun. You’ll probably want to follow that.

Anyways, that’s all the update I’ve got for now, let us know below if you have any questions about it all! For more information about Winkelmann Flowers, click here! Thank you for caring and for being here!
