Gathered from the Farm : An Early Fall Arrangement
People often ask me if I miss doing weddings. And truthfully, I don't—at least, not yet. I'm sure a time will come when I will, but I think I'm still recovering from the stress of it all.
Of course, there are aspects I dearly miss: the relationships with brides, the gorgeous designs, seeing it all come together. But I am genuinely enjoying this season of not being in the wedding game.
One thing I do miss regularly is designing and making a big, beautiful, artful arrangement. And I have to say, it’s an even more relaxing and enjoyable experience when I’m not overthinking it or wondering if someone else is going to like it. No pressure, no expectations—just designing and playing.
Today was one of those days where I missed having my hands in the flowers (from a design standpoint, that is—my hands are always in flowers!). So I took my little red clippers and jaunted around the farm, looking for fun bits to build an arrangement with. I cut some from our current production fields, some from our baby perennial shrub field, and some foliage from around the house.
I’m so proud of how it turned out! Here are all the ingredients I used:
Antique hydrangeas
Yarrow
Dahlias
Zinnias
Cosmos
Loropetalum
