A Honey, Red + Blush Farmhouse Wedding
We don’t do a whole lot of Houston area weddings being based in San Marcos, but when we do, I like when they go a little something like this. This was one of my favorite weddings to date. If you know Kathryn, you love Kathryn because she is so full of joy and life! From planning to day of, she was kind, relaxed and trusted me with her vision— a dream bride!
This color palette is one of my favorites to date— a cheerful blend of honey tones, red, pink and blush to match the bride’s joy and energy! One of my favorite elements of her bouquet (in addition to the pretty blooms) was the stuartiana eucalyptus that was the perfect honey shade to compliment the combo roses. All tied together with a golden, velvet ribbon and pieces of her mother’s wedding dress.
At the ceremony we did a full arch installation covering the whole thing and greenery and popping in sparse blooms throughout. A beautiful way to frame their vows. Inside we added greenery to the chandeliers, added florals to a greenery photo wall and laid garlands and greenery on the tables. Simple elegance, I loved it.
When I look at these pictures, I feel really thankful because you wouldn’t know by looking at them that we had one of our scariest moments with flowers that week. I woke up Friday morning (for a Saturday wedding) and everything in my flower cooler was frozen solid. Aka everything was complete toast. It was below freezing that night outside and for some reason, my cooler tripped in the middle of the night and continued running itself until it completely froze out. Like the entire bucket was a solid chunk of ice, it was crazy. Luckily I don’t keep roses or greenery in the cooler, so they were safe— but all the high end blooms I wanted to keep safe,… yeah, donezo.
I’m honestly surprised that I kept it together at that moment. I guess working with perishable product every day instills a calm during crisis in you. But I honestly think that supernatural peace allowed me to pull this off. Had I had a meltdown and crumbled, I don’t know that I would have been able to pull it together. (And we now have a thermometer with an alarm in case the temp drops, lesson learned!)
So on Friday morning, I got in my car and drove into Austin to my wholesaler to replace all the toasted blooms. Luckily, I was able to replace nearly everything, but whew was it scary. And also thankfully I hadn’t already designed all the bouquets, so I didn’t have to recreate anything. It could have certainly been much, much worse, so I’m thankful.
On Saturday morning, we loaded up a UHaul and drove down to Montgomery to set up this wedding. K + M had PERFECT weather, especially considering a December wedding, what a blessing!
Enjoy these photos from Kathryn + Mark’s day and take note of how colorful flowers can make a wedding pop!
